What is Costimator® and what does it do?

Costimator® is manufacturing cost estimating and quoting software developed by MTI Systems. It enables machine shops and sheet metal fabricators to calculate accurate labor times, cycle times, and part costs using industry-validated cost models — with or without a CAD model.

Costimator® is used by machine shops, sheet metal fabricators, job shops, contract manufacturers, and OEM suppliers that need to estimate and quote the cost of machined parts, fabricated parts, and assemblies.

Does Costimator® work without a CAD model?

Yes. Costimator® can generate cost estimates with or without a 3D CAD model. This makes it suitable for early-stage quoting, design-for-cost analysis, and shops that don't receive CAD files from customers.

What ERP systems does Costimator® integrate with?

Costimator® integrates with leading ERP and MRP systems including Epicor, JobBoss, E2, and ProfitKey. It exports cost estimate data via XML, allowing seamless transfer into third-party applications.

How many cost models does Costimator® include?

Costimator® comes pre-loaded with over 330 industry-validated cycle time cost models covering machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, laser cutting, and more. Estimators can also adjust cost models to fit their specific shop's processes and equipment.

Costimator supports the cost estimating and quoting of over 300 different manufacturing processes, including all forms of machining, fabricating, welding, plastic manufacturing, electronics, assembly and more.

The software contains hundreds of pre-built and industry validated cost models that help estimators quickly and accurately calculate set-up and cycle times with the highest degree of consistency.

Manufacturing cost models are a custom easy-to-use formula based method of creating a manufacturing process. Once created, using the embedded model editor, these models have inputs or drop down lists, as well as formulas that quickly and easily complete calculations for manufacturing time and/or cost. Additionally, estimators can easily add or modify models long after implementation. This provides the flexibility to mimic estimates based on manufacturing processes in their shop or that of their supplier.
